Art for Sale

http://gailpiland.imagekind.com/ I just wanted everyone to know I am an artist again. I have been in retreat for the last ten years and have now come out of hibernation to blossom into the artist I have always worked (yes worked) to be. I have found my passion and it is Digital. I am putting muscle and bone to my images and ideas. Some old images keep coming forward over and over through the years. Other images are new and thrilling to me. I just hope some other souls are touched by my creations.

Christmas 2008

Well, Christmas is over now and I haven't updated my blog since I returned from my trip West in the fall. I have not been idle. I have been very active on Flickr learning my way around and meet some wonderful new friends. I have taken a lot of pictures and am now using the tools in Corel paint shop pro 12 to develop new and interesting pieces of art. I have been selling all my books and videos on Amazon.com and now hope to sell some of my art work as prints. Posting on Deviantart and imagekind to get more exposer.

Over the last couple of years as I have been cataloging my work I had the feeling it was mostly Schatches and ideas for art pieces that were not quite complete. I was a little sad that they hadn't gone further. Now I see I can give muscle and bone to my ideas. The use of digital tools and my skills as an artist have been developing over a life time of working and teaching others to express their inner visions. Traveling has given me a large collection of photographs to use in my work. it will be interesting to see what develops.

Autumn

Well it is fall again....the miracle of the seasons. Time to cut back the garden and with the economy in the critical state it is in ....it is time for Americans to cut back on everything. Conserve resources, recycle, compost and make do with what we have. It is a wake up call and maybe we will get it now. I am thankful I live in a community that is rural and peopled with other folks who know how to "make do". I can walk to the grocery store and ride my bike on country roads. I can skype my kids in Portland and email friends and family all over the world. I am a lucky women.

New Mexico

Driving through the desert was enlightening. The power of time, wind and water on rock is like looking at the hand of God indeed! We sure do have a big country here.

Arrived in Santa Fe and spent the day going to galleries. What wonderful artists, what magical creative things. It is enough to boggle the mind. More artwork tomorrow.

Grand Canyon

Arrived in Flag Staff with 70 degree weather but at night it turned cold like...36 degrees. We went to a tappon resturant for dinner it was great fun and delicious. Drove to the canyon today with the help of the GPS. The El Tovar is great with very comfortable large rooms. Surprised to fine I got a little sunburnt even though we were not in the sun that much. Tomorrow we will do some hiking.

Preperation for trip

Leaving on Fri the 12th to go to Philly and then Fly west with Viki & rent a car to the Grand canyon and Colorado to see my sister. I expect to be inspired by all the wonderful art I will see on this trip. My sister is as excited about it as I am..........maybe more!

Rigged my camera today with a strap to carry around my neck. Ready to draw and shot those great shots.
I have learned so much lately looking at the great artists on Flickr....At least now my eyes have been opened so I see a little more of the beauty in the small and everyday glimpses of light and magic around me.

Packing light but taking the computer ..... always hard to leave it behind ...maybe it will mean less shoes.....scarifies must be made.

Old dog learns new tricks

I have started a blog ......really never thought I would! My joining flickr and youtube has been enlightening. Isolated as I am with so much to learn. One click at a time. My dharma heartland is here. I am finding inspiration from the work of other artists around the world.
